זַחֲלָא, זַחְלָאch. 1) same. Targ. Am. 4:9; a. fr.Yalk. Deut. 938 (play on עמלק) עם ילק פרח כהדין ז׳ a people of locusts, quick like the zaḥla; ib. Ex. 262; Pesik. Zakh., p. 26b> דחלא (corr. acc.); Tanḥ. Ki Thetse 9 פרח כזוחל (corr. acc.).Pl. זַחֲלַיָּא. Targ. Is. 33:4 Ar. (ed. sing.). 2) (זְחַל) I = זֹוחֲלָא worm, moth. Targ. Job 4:19. Targ. Y. Deut. 28:39. Targ. Y. II Deut. 32:24 זחלל עפרא, read: זַחֲלֵי creeping in the dust.
